Co-Teaching

This professional development will provide an 1) overview of various co-teaching methods/models, 2) learn how to build successful partnerships with co-teacher, 3) various approaches to successful lesson planning, and 4) strategies to implement co-teaching into each classroom. This PD will also provide time for Co-Teachers to develop future lessons then share with the entire group. We recommend both co-teachers attend this training. Limited to 12 co-teaching teams.

The focus of this training will be on helping students comprehend curriculum materials, write using details, and express themselves using multisensory, brain-based techniques. Participants will learn how to target general descriptions, writing from prior knowledge, biographies/autobiographies and summarizing using simple strategies. Also provided are multiple ways to target language processing skills. Student samples and hands-on activities are included. The strategies discussed are being used preschool through adult in both general and special education settings. Toolkit not included.

When staff encounter students struggling with home support, behavioral challenges, and social resource deficits, etc. that effect their ability to access their education during the school day, where do they turn? A student demonstrates the ability to be successful and make progress in the classroom but what about the other 18 hours in there day? What about when the leave the structure of the Public Schools? Do families and staff understand the difference between entitlement and eligibility? This session is designed for all secondary SPED staff to learn about what supports exist in their community.

An opportunity for educators to learn from six Board Certified Behavior Analysts how to apply evidenced based strategies to increase student engagement and prevent problematic behavior within the classroom.  Join us we take a closer look into classroom management plans (Tier I supports) and other individualized proactive strategies (Tier II supports).  Together we will explore common classroom challenges and actively discuss solutions in small group settings.  Participants will leave with a better understanding of basic behavioral principles to immediately apply within their classroom.
